My Path: Walking with Care and Curiosity

Hi there — I’m Lauren Harrison (she/her): a therapist and fellow traveler on the path of remembering who I am beneath the layers of roles and expectations.

For nearly a decade, I’ve walked alongside neurodivergent youth and their families—children with complex sensory needs and neurodevelopmental differences. This work revealed to me the profound isolation caregivers often face in a world that overlooks emotional labor, undervalues the invisible work of tending to others, and fails to provide the support and accessible resources they so deeply need.

Through this, I learned that empathy isn’t just a skill—it’s a lifeline. And connection is the thread that weaves through our shared human experience, holding us together even when we feel most untethered.

Why I Support the Supporters

I’ve long understood how much caregivers need care. I saw it in the families I worked with, in my own mother, and in my own body during seasons of burnout.

Becoming a parent brought this reality into sharper focus.

Caregiving without rest, without hands to hold you, is like carrying a flame in the wind—flickering, unsteady, always at risk of going out. That unsustainable effort doesn’t just wear down those who give so much—it touches the hearts of those they love most deeply.

When we are witnessed, resourced, and restored, we can show up with fuller hearts and clearer minds. Supporting the supporters—especially those navigating identity shifts, overwhelm, and the longing to reconnect with themselves—is the work I’m deeply called to and hold with great honor.

I also live with ADHD, and that shapes how I move through the world—and through caregiving. The challenges with regulation, overwhelm, and executive function are real. But they also deepen my capacity for compassion, flexibility, and care in this work.

Motherhood and the Art of Remembering

Motherhood is an ongoing invitation to rediscover myself beneath the weight of caregiving. Though there are times I feel disconnected from my body, creativity, and center, I continually find my way back through movement, creative expression, and the grounding support of community — anchors that nurture and restore.

This journey has shown me that growth isn’t linear but winding and often messy. Restoring oneself isn’t about fixing what’s broken, but gently tending to what’s alive within—the body’s wisdom, the spark of creativity, and the deep well of inner knowing.

That’s the kind of care and connection I hope to share with you. Whenever you’re ready, I’m here — reach out and let’s begin.

How I Support You: A Collaborative Journey

I work with adults—especially mothers, caregivers, educators, therapists, creatives, and deeply feeling souls—who feel scattered, drained, or out of touch with their bodies, creativity, or sense of self. Maybe you’re yearning to feel more grounded, more alive, or simply more like yourself again.

My approach is rooted in empathy, curiosity, and care. I don’t offer quick fixes or one-size-fits-all solutions. Instead, I walk alongside you—holding space with compassion and inviting reconnection through creative, body-centered work.

Clients, students, and colleagues describe me as authentic, encouraging, and supportive. Many appreciate my relatable, energetic, and goofy nature—I truly believe laughter is the best medicine.

Together, we’ll explore the stories your body holds, the wisdom of your emotions, and the creative process as a way to restore balance and presence.

A Glimpse into My Life Beyond Therapy

In addition to my therapy work, I’m a dancer and dance educator currently teaching toddler-and-caregiver creative dance classes that support bonding and community building through movement. These classes offer caregivers a space to play, move, and build relationships — with their children and with each other.

At home, I’m a mom to a spirited toddler, a spouse, and a wrangler of two very vocal cats. I sip coffee while keeping up with my kid, unwind with RuPaul’s Drag Race, and never say no to dessert.

Some of our most joyful moments as a family happen during living room dance parties and spontaneous music jams. Whether we’re playing instruments and singing or jumping around to a favorite song, these playful, embodied moments remind me that creativity and connection are at the heart of it all.
